Agency Wish List
Each year people like you donate about 20,000 pounds of food and 4,500 pounds of household/personal items for the use of South County families. In 2015, the holiday household/personal items drive led by the National Honor Society at Vicksburg High School brought in over 2 tons of much needed items, such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, and shampoo. The annual Letter Carrier Food Drive has averaged 3 tons of food over the last several years.

The food donations ensure that our pantry customers leave with food basics when some of the foods are not available from Loaves & Fishes. Thanks to generous support from our local community, pantry visitors receive a bag of household and personal items 4-5 times a year. Want to make sure that SCCS is able to serve South County families with proven services? Consider joining our SCCS Member Circle. With a small charter member group begun late in 2013, SCCS has added about $10,000 per year to its annual income. This fund is dedicated to keeping our ongoing programs, such as Wednesday Winners, funded consistently when outside funding fluctuates from year to year. It is an annual commitment for donors and the suggested funding levels are flexible and can be paid monthly or from an annual invoice in November. No matter what the size of your donation, your consistent support assures the delivery of key programs.

Memorials
Memorial gifts to SCCS as a lasting tribute to the passing of someone dear are often received at the agency. It is our policy to put all memorial gifts directly into our endowment fund held at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation where it is wisely invested and returns the interest to SCCS for the service of our clients. Many take comfort in knowing that their memorial is a gift that gives forever.

TREE OF LIFE
Another way to honor a loved one while helping others is to participate in our holiday TREE OF LIFE. This program involves purchasing a personalized ornament ($1-$100 donation) to be hung on custom made trees on display in the Marketplace outside South County Community Services. Your donation is used to help South County families with food stability, medications, home heating, utilities, transportation and eviction prevention during the holidays and throughout the winter months. Stop by SCCS to purchase your ornament starting the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Annual Fundraiser - DANCE ACROSS THE DECADES
South County Community Services has created a signature fundraiser done in the spring of each year. Seventy-five percent of all the money raised is pledged to providing direct services to the families we serve. Thanks to generous support from the volunteers and the community, event attendees have a great time and typically raise about $10,000 each year.

Do a Mini-Fundraiser
SCCS truly appreciates the funds that come in from little events and activities that take place in someone’s home or business. For example: setting up a casual day or a bake sale at work with the donations (non-perishable food or money) going to SCCS. We especially treasure when a young person makes a donation to SCCS a part of their birthday celebration. These type of events keep the community remembering about families who need a little help to meet their basic needs and truly makes a big difference in the SCCS budget.
